DRAFT POLICY
- Purpose
The Special Operations Division is compromised of several areas of technical rescue disciplines. The SAFD must constantly be reviewing, practicing, and ensuring operational readiness within these areas. In order for this to happen, highly skilled FTOs must be leading these Divisions.
Similar to the ride-along program. Specific FTOs will obtain lead roles for the different Special Operations Divisions and conduct training according to the following SOP

Remain highly knowledgeable of the Special Operations Division you are assigned
Communicate regularly in the associated Special Operations Division channel within Discord
Have the SOP related to your Special Operations Division memorized. You are the subject matter expert and are expected to lead a rescue effort in your area of expertise under the direction of Command Staff
Continually train on your area of expertise and ensure the SOP is up to date with current best practices
If the SOP needs to be revised, communicate accordingly to Command Staff through your assigned Discord Channel
Special Operations FTOs are expected to conduct and coordinate regular training with their Specialists assigned to them
Special Operations FTOs are expected to communicate their member's training progress to Command Staff so it can be documented in the "Training Records"
- Special Operations Training Procedures
Special Operations Training is structured on a Three Phase approach
The phases are designed to take time so that it can be ensured the discipline/necessary skills become mastered and not rushed
Specialists who wish to receive training shall communicate this in the associated Discord Channel
Training requests for Special Operations is less formal. Do not use the "Training or Evaluation Request Form"
FTOs in their respective disciplines are to coordinate with those individuals assigned to their areas
FTOs are expected to move their staff through the phases of training, remain aware of individual progress, have a plan for progression and be in constant communication with Command Staff of this

All FTOs who conduct training shall complete the required form either during or after the session is completed
This allows for Command Staff and other FTOs to review what training was conducted and the progress of the individual
